Two of Scotland's greatest jazz artists, saxophonist Tommy Smith and pianist Brian Kellock, team up to bring you a beautiful and imaginative duo. Not surprisingly, the press has applauded them with phrases such as 'bewitching layers of delicacy', 'full flight', 'spontaneous invention' and 'sheer artistry'. This dynamic duo perform tracks from their three CDs on Spartacus records, 'Bezique', 'Symbiosis' & 'Whispering of the Stars' which feature the great American & European songbook.

Bebop Spoken Here - Review

Brian Kellock and Tommy Smith - a musical marriage made in Heaven or at least in Bonnie Scotland. Don't expect any boundary stretching or explorations of the unknown. Instead, wallow in the artistry of two master craftsmen treating the familiar in an unfamiliar(ish) way.

Smith has possibly the purist saxophone sound since Stan Getz whilst Kellock is the grandmaster at choosing the perfect substitution in accompaniment and soling with a flowing lilt that more than makes up for the lack of bass and drums. This is Chamber Music, Late Night Jazz, Get Him/Her in the mood music. An absolute delight.

You Must Believe in Spring; Stardust; It Could Happen to You; Taking a Chance on Love; Warm Valley; The Summer Knows; Moonlight Serenade; When You Wish Upon a Star; You've Changed; I'm in the Mood For Love; I Apologise and a Ballad Medley - In a Sentimental Mood; The Peacocks; Sophisticated Lady; A Flower is a Lovesome Thing; Moonlight in Vermont; Pure Imagination; Over the Rainbow; Come Sunday; 'Round Midnight; Without a Song; Alfie.

Has there ever been a better selection of music to seduce by?
